Welcome to Lastentalo Musikatti!

Lastentalo Musikatti Oy is a warm and homelike private daycare center that has been providing high-quality early childhood education since 1998. The daycare first started in Rauma at Ottilankallio and moved to its current building on Osmonkatu in summer 2000.

We offer early childhood education for children aged 1–5 in a safe and encouraging environment. Musikatti has four groups:

PilliPullat (1–2 years)

Töpöhännät (2–3 years)

Murret (3–4 years)

Monnit (4–5 years)

Children stay in their own groups during morning activities and meals. Outdoors and during play, children join in mixed small groups, and groups also work closely together. Many activities are organized for the whole daycare community.

Children are placed in groups based on their developmental stage and skills rather than age. Our approach is child-centered, focusing on individual needs. At Musikatti, we value the benefits of a small daycare: a calm daily rhythm and the importance of play as the foundation for learning. Meals are prepared in our own kitchen. Our goal is to support each child’s overall growth and development together with families – with care and professionalism.

Our Pedagogy

At Musikatti, learning starts from children’s interests, needs, skills, and different learning environments. We follow Freinet pedagogy and place a strong emphasis on music in daily activities. Our methods encourage creativity, participation, and active learning through play, exploration, movement, art, and expression. Activities are adapted to the children’s interests and abilities.

Self-care and everyday life skills are an important part of our work. In safe interaction, children learn to take care of themselves and others. Thinking and learning are seen as essential future skills, and children are encouraged to ask questions, explore, and solve problems. Early education builds respect for others, social skills, cultural awareness, communication, and self-expression. Working together fosters courage, enthusiasm, trust, and openness towards new experiences.

Fees

The daycare fee consists of a family’s client fee and a service voucher provided by the City of Rauma. The client fees at Musikatti are the same as in the city’s municipal daycares. The fee is based on the child’s attendance hours, family size, and parents’ income.

There are four fee categories:
141 hours or more per month, 113–140 hours, 86–112 hours, 0–85 hours
